About Us

The West Tennessee Society for Human Resource Management (WTSHRM) is a not for profit association with over 100 Human Resource (HR) professionals from a variety of businesses and organizations in the West Tennessee area. WTSHRM has been recognized by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as a Merit Award Chapter for excellence in operations and service to members.

WTSHRM is committed to accomplishing the following goals:

    • Promoting and advancing the professionalism of those involved in HR management.
    • Addressing current human resources issues to promote proactive HR management.
    • Encouraging cooperation among members for the exchange of ideas, discussion of problems, and dissemination of information.
    • Promoting and educating membership through seminars, and professional certification.

WTSHRM meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month at the Carl Grant Event Center on the campus of Union University. Each monthly meeting provides an opportunity to network with other West Tennessee HR professionals.

These meetings include educational presentations on a wide variety of HR subjects. Topics during the past three years have included: Healthcare Reform, Workers’ Compensation, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and Strategic HR.

WTSHRM keeps members abreast of legislative proposals at both the federal and state level involving workplace issues.

Additionally, two conferences are held in the spring and fall of each year on a variety of topics. These conferences provide a forum to enhance the professional development and growth of human resource practitioners.

WTSHRM also participates in community outreach projects.
